What happened: “SAMAVESH UTSAV” by DWBDNC for DNT inclusion

The Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC), under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, organised “SAMAVESH UTSAV” at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in the National Capital on 2 September 2026. The programme brought together more than 700 beneficiaries from De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic (DNT) communities, including community leaders and artisans from across India.

“SAMAVESH UTSAV” combined two elements: public storytelling about inclusion and empowerment, and a craft-based exhibition meant to showcase DNT skills and products. The government claimed the event highlighted the progress achieved under the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED), along with government welfare initiatives for these communities.

Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar addressed the gathering and shared experiences from interactions with DNT communities across the country. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment stated that Dr. Virendra Kumar appreciated the positive impact of SEED, especially through interventions in education, healthcare, livelihood and housing.

The programme also included remarks by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri B. L. Verma, senior representatives of the Ministry and DWBDNC leadership. DWBDNC CEO Shri Rajan Sehgal and Members Shri Bharatbhai Babubhai Patni and Shri Pravin Shivajirao Ghuge were present. Shri B. L. Verma highlighted SEED’s role in improving the socio-economic conditions of DNT communities.
