What happened (India–Japan MoA on Maritime Security Cooperation)
India and Japan signed a Memorandum of Arrangement (MoA) on Maritime Security Cooperation after bilateral defence talks in New Delhi between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Japanese counterpart Shinjiro Koizumi. The MoA aims to deepen operational cooperation between the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Indian Navy.
The MoA covers cooperation areas that include information sharing, Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) (monitoring and understanding what is happening in maritime areas), search and rescue, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).
