What happened: AISA alleges police crackdown during NEET paper leak agitation
The All India Students’ Association (AISA) alleged a nationwide police crackdown targeting students involved in agitation against the alleged NEET paper leak. AISA stated that police actions included arrests and detentions and that intimidation continued even though AISA said protesters were peaceful.
AISA named multiple regions and made the following allegations:
- Bihar: AISA alleged arrests of multiple Students’ Federation of India (SFI) activists and named former JNUSU president Dhananjay among those arrested.
- West Bengal and Jharkhand: AISA alleged police actions against student protesters.
- Delhi (Jamia Nagar and Jantar Mantar): AISA alleged that notices were sent to student protesters in Jamia Nagar and claimed the notices relied on face-scanning or retina scanning to connect individuals to their presence at Jantar Mantar. AISA also stated that AISA Jamia issued a legal-aid helpline for student protesters.
