What happened

Police detained more than 400 protesters in Mumbai at Shivaji Park and Chembur after demonstrations over the alleged NEET paper leak. Restrictions were imposed at both sites.

In Patna, police used batons, water cannons, and tear gas against AISA-led protesters marching toward Lok Bhavan and the Chief Minister’s residence. The crowd allegedly threw stones, injuring police personnel, while several protesters were injured during the baton-charge.

Background and earlier position

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a major medical-entrance examination in India, so allegations of paper leaks quickly raise questions about examination integrity, institutional trust, and administrative accountability. Student protests around exam irregularities often move beyond education into public order because they combine large mobilisations with demands for state response.
