What happened
Sarvesh Kushare cleared 2.31 metres at the National Inter-State Athletics Meet in Bhubaneswar and broke Tejaswin Shankar’s eight-year-old Indian men’s high-jump record of 2.28 metres.
The performance made Kushare the world’s joint fourth-best performer of the season at that point and the top Asian jumper. Kushare said he now aims for a medal at the Asian Games.
