Odisha’s government placed downstream districts on high alert as the Hirakud Dam continued releasing water through 22 gates. Odisha officials reported that flood conditions reportedly improved in northern areas while warnings for flooding risk continued for the delta region.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that floods had affected around 8 lakh people across 20 districts so far. Odisha authorities reported that approximately 2.69 lakh people had been evacuated and sheltered in 700 relief camps.
Odisha authorities said they were closely monitoring vulnerable downstream districts, including Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada.
