What happened: CBI case registration and disputed amounts
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against Reliance Capital Limited for alleged EPFO investment fraud totalling ₹1,816.22 crore.
CBI filed the case based on a complaint from EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) under the Ministry of Labour & Employment.
CBI’s FIR-based allegations quantified the disputed amount as follows:
• ₹1,007.55 crore as alleged principal
• ₹808.67 crore as alleged interest component
