Upadhyay’s counsel argued that the FIR includes accusations involving offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Upadhyay’s counsel also claimed that the allegations were fabricated and were meant to harass him for his journalistic work.
