What happened: Telangana’s SIR enumeration shows a high Uncollectable share and projected deletion from draft rolls
Telangana’s Chief Electoral Office indicated that more than one-fifth of electors are likely to be deleted in the draft electoral rolls after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration process.
The Chief Electoral Office also indicated that electors who submitted forms may receive verification notices from Electoral Registration Officers.
The SIR enumeration phase ended at midnight on August 10, after two extensions. Draft electoral rolls are expected to be published after a week, on August 17.
By 6 p.m. on the final day, 73,47,075 enumeration forms were categorised as Uncollectable—forms not returned by electors. The Chief Electoral Office stated that this figure is close to 22% of Telangana’s electorate.
