Delhi University has moved its undergraduate admission cycle into the first-round acceptance and verification stage. The process matters for UPSC because it shows how a large public university uses digital allotment, document checks, and phased fee payment to manage entry into higher education.
What happened now
Delhi University said 79,404 candidates accepted the undergraduate seats allotted to them in the first round of admissions. The university had offered 93,033 seat allotments across 221 UG programmes in 67 colleges.
A total of 2,18,284 candidates registered on the portal, and 2,08,043 filled preferences. Colleges have approved 26,061 candidates for payment after document verification, and students whose documents are verified must complete fee payment by July 21. The second allocation list will be released on July 25, fee payment for that round is due by July 28, and the academic session is set to start on July 28.
After fee payment, students can either freeze the seat or opt for upgrade in later rounds. Delhi University officials also said a mid-entry round may be announced separately.
