What happened
The newly launched Parents Association for Welfare and Justice (PAWJ) has demanded greater transparency in private-school fee regulation in Delhi. PAWJ has asked for an independent financial audit of private unaided schools, immediate constitution of School Level Fee Regulation Committees, and strict enforcement of protections against harassment in fee disputes.
PAWJ president Divya Mattey said parents should have a stronger role in ensuring transparency in the school system. The association also urged implementation of the Delhi School Education Act, 2025.

The immediate legal backdrop is a May 22 judgment that held private unaided schools do not need prior approval from the Directorate of Education to raise fees at the start of an academic session. The parents’ group is reacting to the regulatory space created by that judgment and is asking for stronger oversight at the school level.
