What happened
The Parents Association for Welfare and Justice (PAWJ) has demanded stronger regulation of private unaided school fee hikes in Delhi. The association has asked for an independent financial audit of private unaided schools and for immediate constitution of School Level Fee Regulation Committees.
PAWJ has also urged strict implementation of protections meant to prevent harassment of children in fee-related disputes and has called for enforcement of the Delhi School Education Act, 2025.
Background and earlier position
At the launch at the Press Club of India, PAWJ president Divya Mattey said parents should have a larger role in making the school system transparent. PAWJ also appealed to the Chief Justice of India and the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court to consider suo motu cognisance of issues arising from a May 22 High Court judgment.
