Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta appointed BJP MLA Abhay Kumar Verma as the Delhi government’s chief spokesperson. She also designated MLAs Anil Kumar Sharma and Harish Khurana as spokespersons.
The government said the appointments are intended to strengthen transparent, accountable, and citizen-focused governance and to improve communication with the public.
According to the Chief Minister, the spokespersons will ensure timely and effective dissemination of official information on government policies, decisions, and welfare initiatives to citizens and the media.
Why this matters for UPSC
The development is a routine administrative appointment, but it is relevant to GS2 themes such as governance, transparency, and public accountability. It can also be used to discuss how state governments communicate policies and how information delivery affects welfare implementation.
