What happened: Karnataka extended SIR enumeration and reshuffled electoral roll dates
Karnataka’s Chief Electoral Officer office announced an extension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration phase, which was originally scheduled to end on Saturday. The new end date for the SIR enumeration phase is August 17, and the extension is the second extension for the exercise.
Along with extending the enumeration phase, Karnataka’s election administration changed the timetable for electoral roll publication:
Draft electoral rolls: earlier scheduled for publication on August 17, now scheduled for release on August 24.Claims and objections period: from August 24 to September 23.Final electoral rolls: scheduled for publication on October 27.

Election administration in India uses a sequence of steps to update voter lists. In general, enumeration-related work (including efforts to identify and update details of eligible voters) is followed by publication of draft electoral rolls, then a window for citizens to raise issues through claims and objections, and finally publication of final electoral rolls after considering eligible corrections.
