Assam has reported to the State Assembly that it deported or expelled foreigners between January 2016 and June 2026, while also giving updated figures on people identified as foreigners in the State. What happened now
The Assam government told the Assembly that 2,089 foreigners were deported or expelled between January 2016 and June 2026 for illegal entry or illegal stay. The State said most of those removed were Bangladeshi nationals, while smaller numbers came from Myanmar, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Russia, Ukraine, Kenya, Pakistan and Uganda.
