Satheesan made the statement at a post-Cabinet press briefing. He accused Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan of using communal propaganda to turn the Muslim community against the United Democratic Front government.
Background and earlier position
The Waqf Board is the statutory body that manages waqf properties and related administration. In Kerala, the board composition has become a political issue because appointments can raise questions of representation, eligibility, and community balance.
Satheesan said Kerala was among the first to form the Waqf Board after the Centre’s Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. He said the earlier government did not make the two appointments at that time, reportedly because Bar Council elections were under way.
