What happened
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approved a package of measures for Godavari Pushkaralu 2027. The package combines security planning, financial support for a cooperative marketing body, and a welfare scheme for handloom workers.
The Cabinet cleared a government guarantee for a ₹300-crore term loan for the Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation. It also sanctioned ₹50 crore for festival security and approved the Nethannala Sevalo scheme for eligible handloom worker families below the poverty line.
Background and earlier position
Godavari Pushkaralu is a major river festival linked to the sacred river-fair tradition in Telugu states. Large gatherings during such festivals require transport planning, policing, sanitation, riverfront safety, and coordination among district administrations.
The Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation is a cooperative marketing institution. A government guarantee for a term loan usually helps such bodies raise funds by improving lender confidence, especially when working capital or procurement support is needed.
