The Congress said renewed hostilities in West Asia are hurting India’s interests and narrowing India’s room for manoeuvre. The party linked the crisis to commercial shipping, the Chabahar Port project, and India’s strategic autonomy.

Salman Khurshid, chairperson of the Congress Foreign Affairs Department, said attacks in the region should not be weaponised by the warring sides and called for dialogue and resolution. The party also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to brief Parliament during the upcoming session.
