External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Iran’s foreign minister Syed Abbas Araghchi and urged Iran to end attacks on commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz.

Jaishankar conveyed India’s condemnation of attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers and urged avoidance of attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers under any circumstances.

Jaishankar’s call with Araghchi was described as the second such shipping-related call within 24 hours, alongside rising maritime risk concerns linked to the Strait of Hormuz area and in/near the Black Sea.
