What happened
The Union government, through the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), denied permission for Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to visit the United States as part of his Telangana Risings initiative.
Reportedly, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy cut short his London tour and planned to return to Hyderabad on August 23.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) approved only the United Kingdom (U.K.) leg of the tour.
MEA communicated the approval status to the Telangana government after the delegation had already reached the United Kingdom (U.K.).
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stated that the planned United States visit aimed to bring leading educational institutions to Telangana in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) (a national framework for education reforms).
