What happened: political clearance denied for a planned U.S. visit
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy criticised the Union government for refusing political clearance for his planned visit to the United States, describing the refusal as discriminatory.
Reddy stated that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) cleared only the United Kingdom (U.K.) leg of the tour. Reddy said the MEA cited denial of political clearance on the “political angle” for the United States leg.
Reddy said the Telangana government had already submitted detailed information to the Centre about the purpose and objectives of the foreign visit.
Reddy questioned whether such a clearance outcome could be taken without knowledge of the Prime Minister if the submitted information was not properly reviewed.
