The Election Commission of India has extended Maharashtra’s special intensive revision of electoral rolls by 10 days. The revision deadline has now been moved to 8 August. The change matters because electoral roll revision is central to voter inclusion, list accuracy, and election preparedness.
The revised schedule places the draft voter list on 17 August and the final voter list on 19 October. Civil society groups have said the extra time is still too short for a large state and have raised doubts about training and field coverage by booth-level officers.
