Assam’s flood situation has eased, but the monsoon crisis remains serious across the Brahmaputra valley. The latest update from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority shows that river overflow, urban flooding in Guwahati, and landslides continue to affect lives, transport, and relief operations.
What happened now
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority said one more person died in Charaideo district, taking the flood-related death toll in Assam to 11 in less than a month. The number of affected people has come down to 3.13 lakh across 11 districts, compared with 3.63 lakh across 16 districts the previous day.
The authority said 52 relief camps have been set up and are sheltering 12,720 people. Rescue teams evacuated 9,160 stranded people using boats.
Flood-related disruptions reported in Guwahati and river basins
Urban flooding was reported in six areas of Guwahati: Satgaon, Sawkuchi, Notboma, Boragaon, Maligaon, and Chandmari. Landslides were also reported on Monday evening from five areas of Guwahati.
