Jharkhand Loktantrikari Krantikari Morcha (Meri) leader Devendra Nath Mahto launched the “Bharti Vyavastha Sudhar Yatra”, a statewide march seeking reforms in government recruitment examinations in Jharkhand. Devendra Nath Mahto is described as one of the prominent faces of a student protest that started on 25 July in Ranchi and is described as lasting 26 days, alleging irregularities in recruitment examinations.

The yatra started from Nemra village in Ramgarh district. Devendra Nath Mahto garlanded the statue of Shibu Soren at the launch point.
