What happened (Monsoon Session controversy and the accusation of disruption)
BJP president Nitin Nabin criticized the Congress and other Opposition parties for avoiding parliamentary debate and for disrupting the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Nitin Nabin argued that the Opposition conduct showed insufficient seriousness about issues affecting people and said it harmed democratic decorum and the dignity of the House.
Nitin Nabin also used the claim that the Opposition “fled” from meaningful discussion. His stated reason was fear that Opposition “false claims” would be exposed when the Home Minister spoke in Parliament.
Nitin Nabin described an alleged sequence of positions by the Opposition: Opposition parties first demanded discussion on youth-related issues, then stepped back after the government indicated readiness to discuss, while still claiming they did not want any discussion.
Nitin Nabin further said Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition displayed an anarchic mindset and anti-democratic thinking. He added that near the end of the Monsoon Session, the Opposition had not been prepared for serious debate on any issue.
