What happened in the Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha passed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 on Wednesday without a debate. After the House was adjourned earlier in the day, the Bill was taken up and voted on, and Opposition MPs immediately entered the Well of the House and protested with slogans.

Reported Opposition and parliamentary conduct during the voting included the following:

• A Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) member opposed the introduction of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, arguing it conflicted with federalism (the sharing of powers between the Union and the States).

• Opposition MPs shouted “Adani, Adani” during the voting.

• After passage, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister objected to MPs crowding the Well of the House.
