What happened: Lieutenant-Governor leads DDA native plantation drives across Delhi
Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, also the chairperson of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), led a DDA plantation drive across Delhi. The drive included planting over one lakh native trees and shrubs at 77 locations.
At Kamla Nehru Ridge, Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu directed DDA to make plantation efforts a people’s movement with greater youth participation. He also urged similar drives across other ridge areas and asked DDA to take a proactive role in expanding Delhi’s green cover.
Reported participation and locations included the following:
• At Kamla Nehru Ridge, about 200 people, including students, participated in the plantation activity. • Similar planting drives were reported at Aravalli Biodiversity Park and Sanjay Van. • Native species used included dhok, amaltas, peepal, and neem.
