What happened: DDA plans stakeholder meetings for Master Plan for Delhi-2047
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) plans to hold more than 20 stakeholder meetings over the next three months to discuss implementation of the Master Plan for Delhi-2047. DDA’s stated purpose is to gather inputs from multiple stakeholder groups so that major Master Plan provisions can be discussed with elected representatives, government agencies, professional experts, and local bodies.
The stakeholder meetings are to be conducted on directions of Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu. DDA plans to include MPs and MLAs, government agencies, industry bodies, architects and planners, and residents’ welfare associations (RWAs). DDA also proposes consultation participation from landowners, educational institutions, and healthcare organizations.
DDA’s consultation agenda includes transit-oriented development, high-density corridors, the land pooling policy, and low-density areas. DDA also proposes consultations for housing and redevelopment with RWAs and housing societies.
Industry bodies are planned to be consulted regarding industrial development and land availability. Additional sessions are planned for mobility and congestion planning, rejuvenation of the Yamuna river, and heritage conservation along with redevelopment of commercial areas. Separate consultation sessions are planned for developing education and healthcare hubs in areas such as Narela and Dwarka.
