In another major decision aimed at safeguarding farmers' interests, the Government of India has approved the procurement of Khopra and Totapuri mangoes from farmers in Tamil Nadu.
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has accorded approval for the procurement, ensuring better price realization for producers and protecting them from distress sales caused by market fluctuations.
Based on the proposal submitted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Centre has approved the procurement of copra during 2026.
