The Department of Fisheries has said that the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is being used to support export-oriented aquaculture while also promoting sustainability in marine fishing. The package links productivity, quality enhancement, and conservation in the fisheries sector.

PMMSY support measures
PMMSY support includes branding, standards and certification, capacity building, post-harvest infrastructure, cold-chain facilities, and modernisation of fishing harbours and fish landing centres.
The Department of Fisheries also supports export-oriented species such as Scampi, Mud Crab, Asian Seabass, and Cobia. It promotes advanced aquaculture technologies such as Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) and Biofloc technology.
