What happened
The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated the compensation framework for Central Armed Police Forces personnel who die during duty. The stated norms distinguish between accidental death and death caused by terrorist violence or enemy action.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the next of kin of a CAPF personnel who dies in an accident during duty receives ex-gratia support of ₹25 lakh. For deaths caused by acts of violence by terrorists or during enemy action, the compensation is ₹35 lakh. The Ministry of Home Affairs also refers to accidental death insurance coverage under the CAPF salary package scheme for families of personnel who die in the line of duty.
