What happened
The Ministry of Science & Technology announced the establishment of BioEnablers—including Bio-Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hubs, Biofoundries, and Biomanufacturing Hubs—across India under the BioE3 policy direction. Two call-for-proposals exercises were announced for setting up Biofoundries and Biomanufacturing Hubs to provide shared infrastructure/facilities and resources for pilot and pre-commercial scale biomanufacturing of viable commercial bio-based products. The Ministry stated that more than 450 proposals were received across six thematic verticals and that 17 facilities received funding support under the first call for BioEnablers. DBT and BIRAC jointly issued a call for proposals for “मूलांकुर Bio-AI Hubs” under BioE3; the government statement records that 284 Letters of Intent (LoIs) were received and 15 Bio-AI Hubs were recommended for support. An MoU was also signed with Meity for access to national AI infrastructure by the Bio AI Hubs.
