What happened: PMKSY-AIBP approval for the Kosi–Mechi Intra-State Link Project
The Ministry of Jal Shakti approved the Kosi–Mechi Intra-State Link Project under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana – Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (PMKSY-AIBP). The approval covers the balance cost of works amounting to Rs. 6,143.22 crore, with central assistance of Rs. 3,652.56 crore.
The government’s stated target for project completion is March 2029. The approval also includes remodeling-related execution within the project component tied to the Eastern Kosi Main Canal.
