What happened: WAVES 2025 in Mumbai and Prasar Bharati’s MoUs for broadcasting cooperation
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting organised the inaugural World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025) in Mumbai in May 2025 to strengthen international media cooperation. The summit focused on bringing together the Media and Entertainment sector to support the “Create in India, Create for the World” initiative, positioning India as a global hub for content creation.
WAVES 2025 served as a platform for Indian creators, producers and startups to engage with global stakeholders, including global buyers, investors, Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms, and technology leaders from over 100 countries.
In the broadcasting sector, Prasar Bharati—India’s public broadcasting organisation—maintains international engagement through content-sharing arrangements with international broadcasters and broadcasting agreements with partner organisations.
Prasar Bharati also has 48 active Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with broadcasters from different countries for cooperation in broadcasting. These MoUs aim at facilitating exchange of content, professional expertise, and best practices.
