What happened (CAQM amendments and EC status)
The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR (CAQM) noted amendments issued through circulation to CAQM Directions No. 86 dated 02.01.2025 and Direction No. 98 dated 20.02.2026. The amendments extend the implementation scope and timelines for Delhi-NCR air pollution controls. The Commission also noted the status of Environmental Compensation imposed on six thermal power plants (TPPs) for non-achievement of biomass co-firing targets during 2024-25.
What changed in CAQM Directions No. 86 and No. 98
CAQM Direction No. 86 dated 02.01.2025 covers implementation areas for air pollution control measures in the National Capital Region (NCR). The amendment to Direction No. 86 extends its implementation to other Municipal Corporations and bigger cities/towns in NCR.
