The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) approved a wide set of measures in its 198th meeting chaired by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi. The decisions focus on three connected goals: stronger healthcare delivery for insured persons, expansion of medical education capacity, and better administrative reach.
What ESIC approved
ESIC approved direct management of all upcoming and newly commissioned ESI hospitals by ESIC. Hospitals already under State Government management and under reconstruction or upgradation will continue with the State Government unless the State Government opts for handover to ESIC.
ESIC also approved a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Ayush and ESIC under the Ministry of Labour & Employment. The stated purpose is to integrate, promote, strengthen, and build capacity for Ayush services inside ESIC's healthcare delivery system.
The Corporation gave in-principle approval for restructuring the Medical Education Division, including functional verticals, additional posts, and an ESIC Medical Education Advisory Board. This is meant to support expansion of medical, dental, nursing, and allied health science institutions.
ESIC approved a new consolidated memorandum of understanding for State ESI Societies. The change replaces the 2017 model documents and is linked to the Code on Social Security, 2020. The new framework also allows Governing Body and Executive Committee meetings to proceed even when non-official nominations are pending, and it makes the Insurance Commissioner and Medical Commissioner permanent invitees.
