The Mission Steering Group of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) met under Union Health Minister J P Nadda to review implementation progress and discuss the roadmap for further strengthening India’s digital health ecosystem. The meeting is important because ABDM is being positioned as a key digital public infrastructure for healthcare delivery and continuity of care.

The government said the mission has expanded sharply across citizens, facilities, and health professionals. The next phase, according to the meeting, will focus on higher adoption, stronger interoperability, governance, and wider integration with national health programmes.

What happened

The third Mission Steering Group meeting reviewed progress under ABDM and decisions taken earlier. Officials discussed capacity building, state implementation mechanisms, integration with government health platforms, private-sector participation, and international collaboration in digital health.

Key figures reported by the government

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, ABDM has created over 93.95 crore ABHA numbers, linked 105 crore health records, registered 5.33 lakh health facilities and 9.85 lakh healthcare professionals on national digital health registries. It has also enabled 2.72 lakh healthcare facilities to adopt ABDM-enabled software and generated around 24 crore Scan & Register tokens for faster outpatient registration.
