The National Health Authority concluded a two-day national review meeting on Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in New Delhi. The review matters because it moves the discussion from scheme rollout to the next stage of health-sector reform: sustainability, digital adoption, interoperability and better public service delivery.
What happened
The review meeting was held on 17–18 July 2026 at Madhya Pradesh Bhawan, New Delhi. It brought together officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Health Authority, State Health Agencies, development partners and other stakeholders.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the second day focused on financial sustainability, strengthening public healthcare institutions, health analytics, artificial intelligence and digital transformation across the healthcare ecosystem.
What changed in the policy conversation
AB PM-JAY and ABDM were described by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as integral pillars of India's healthcare ecosystem. The emphasis now is not only on building these digital public health platforms, but also on wider adoption, better utilisation, data privacy, cybersecurity and responsible use of health data.
