The Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Government of Uttarakhand inaugurated the 6th Lok Samvardhan Parv at Parade Ground, Dehradun. The event is a livelihood-and-culture platform for minority artisans, weavers, craftspersons and entrepreneurs, and it also tests how far market access can be built through state-supported fairs and training sessions.
What happened
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the five-day festival on 11 July 2026 in the presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Uttarakhand Minister for Minority Welfare Khajan Dass. The festival remains open to the public at Parade Ground, Dehradun, from 11 to 15 July 2026, between 11:30 AM and 9:00 PM.
Key features of the 6th Lok Samvardhan Parv
The release states that around 150 artisans, including nearly 90 women artisans, are participating. Around 150 exhibition stalls have been set up for traditional handicrafts, handloom textiles and heritage crafts, and nearly 40% of the stalls are dedicated to Uttarakhand crafts.
The programme includes live craft demonstrations, buyer-seller interactions and entrepreneurship and digital marketing sessions. Food stalls are featuring traditional Pahadi and Kumauni dishes along with other Indian cuisines. Artists named in the release include Jyoti Nooran, Kishan Mahipal, Vivek Nautiyal, Maya Upadhyay, Pandavaas and Parmish Verma.
