Odisha to get Rameshwar–Paradeep Coastal Highway under MoRTH (₹8,300.79 crore)

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has announced a new Rameshwar–Paradeep Coastal Highway in Odisha. The corridor is intended to improve connectivity across the state’s coastal belt and to link transport, tourism, and economic nodes along the eastern coastline.
The project covers a 160.18 km corridor with a total capital cost of ₹8,300.79 crore. It will pass through Khurda, Puri, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur districts.
What the corridor includes
UPSC can frame the Rameshwar–Paradeep Coastal Highway as a test of how transport infrastructure supports port-led growth, tourism circuits, and regional integration. The issue also links coastal geography, disaster-sensitive infrastructure, and sustainable tourism along a fragile coastline.
