The Union Cabinet has approved four-laning of two important national highway stretches in northern Telangana to improve mobility, trade, and tourism access. The decision covers the Armoor-Jagtial-Mancherial section of NH-63 and the Jagtial-Karimnagar section of NH-563, both of which pass through densely populated and economically active districts.
The projects cover 190.76 km and involve an investment of ₹7,597.16 crore. The four-laning of the Armoor-Jagtial-Mancherial section will be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), while the Jagtial-Karimnagar section will be developed on a Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) basis.
What existed earlier
Traffic on both corridors has faced congestion because the routes pass through built-up towns and expanding urban settlements. The corridor on NH-63 passes through Anksapoor, Korutla, Jagtial, Dharmapuri, Lakshettipet and Mancherial. The NH-563 stretch passes through Jagtial, Potharam, Gangadhara and Karimnagar. Rising traffic volumes have produced bottlenecks and delays for commuters and freight vehicles.
What changed now
The Cabinet approval creates a higher-capacity road network in northern Telangana. The upgraded corridors are intended to reduce travel time, improve road safety, and support movement between pilgrimage centres, industrial clusters, logistics nodes, and agricultural markets.
