What happened
Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 provides six named services through Anganwadi Centres nationwide for eligible beneficiaries. Immunization, health check-up, and referral services are supported through the National Health Mission (NHM) and public health infrastructure.
Background and earlier position
The 15th Finance Commission framework reorganised nutrition support components for children below 6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers, and adolescent girls (14–18 years), along with early childhood care and education (3–6 years) and Anganwadi infrastructure under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0.
What changed now
Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 operationalises six services as a structured package, backed by Poshan Tracker for near real-time monitoring. Aadhaar-based e-KYC using facial recognition supports beneficiary verification, and a nominee module enables take-home ration continuity when the beneficiary cannot visit the Anganwadi Centre.
