What happened (Union Budget 2026 allocations and what they cover)
The Ministry of Law and Justice, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, reported Union Budget 2026 allocations aimed at improving judicial infrastructure and digitisation of courts. The Government linked these allocations to the broader objective of making justice accessible, speedy, and effective, while also noting that case disposal depends on multiple on-ground factors.
Key allocations reported in the Lok Sabha written reply are:
₹810 crore allocated in Union Budget 2026 under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for the District and Subordinate Courts.
₹1,200 crore allocated in Union Budget 2026 for eCourts Project Phase-III (for digitisation of courts, including necessary training and capacity building programmes).
