What happened: Ministry of Textiles implements NTTM guidelines for technical textiles education and skill training

The Ministry of Textiles is implementing NTTM “General Guidelines for Enabling of Academic Institutes in Technical Textiles Education in India: For Private and Public Institutes.” These guidelines are meant to enable a wider range of academic institutes to introduce courses and papers on different application areas of technical textiles across India. Under these guidelines, the Ministry states that 59 courses have been introduced at the Undergraduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) levels.

Alongside education enablement, the Ministry has approved NTTM “General Guidelines for Skill Development and Training of Candidates in Technical Textiles” for skill upgradation of industrial manpower. The Ministry states that implementing agencies (including textile research associations, Centres of Excellence, Sector Skill Councils, and industry bodies) have been empanelled across States and Union Territories to run training and outreach activities.
