What happened (Lok Sabha statements by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying)
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, reiterated sustained investments for the dairy and livestock sectors with the stated aim of improving milk supply, strengthening livestock development, and improving market access for farmers.
In the Lok Sabha, the ministry stated that the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has not received reports indicating that farmers cannot secure fair remunerative prices due to inadequate milk processing or inadequate cold-chain facilities.
The ministry also stated that milk procurement prices are determined by dairy cooperatives and private dairies based on prevailing market conditions.

The Government stated that the Department is implementing two schemes under the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD):
