What happened (latest government reporting)
The Ministry of Rural Development reported PMGSY achievements on rural road connectivity and also launched PMGSY-IV. The government’s written reply in the Lok Sabha by the Minister of State for Rural Development, Shri Kamlesh Paswan, covers completion numbers for the last five years, PMGSY status since inception, and current progress and governance mechanisms for PMGSY-IV.
PMGSY: road and bridge completion in the last five years
Under PMGSY verticals, the government reported completion of all-weather road works over the last five years across India (including Tamil Nadu):
• Total road length completed: 1,31,589 km
• Components completed: 18,814 roads and 5,110 bridges
