What happened: ESIC extended ABVKY until 30 June 2027

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) approved the extension of the Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY) from 01.07.2026 to 30.06.2027. ABVKY provides benefits to insured persons who become unemployed, subject to specified eligibility conditions and exclusions.

ABVKY eligibility rules for unemployment-linked benefits

ESIC specified the following eligibility conditions to avail benefit under ABVKY:

Insurable employment condition: the insured person must be in insurable employment for a minimum period of 12 months immediately before unemployment.Contribution condition: the insured person must have contributed for not less than 78 days in one completed contribution period in the 12 months immediately preceding unemployment.Unemployment exclusion: unemployment must not arise from misconduct, lock out, superannuation, or conviction for false statement under the provisions of Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948.
