What happened: CCTNS coverage reached full police-station adoption and citizen services expanded
The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) enables collection, updation, and analysis of crime and criminal data on a near real-time basis. CCTNS is designed to connect police stations and support police workflows and citizen services through digital portals.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, reported coverage status for CCTNS: as on 01.06.2026, all 17,762 Police Stations are using CCTNS.
CCTNS also enables citizen services at the national level through a Digital Police Portal and a Central Citizen Services Portal, along with nine mandated citizen services through various State Police Citizen Portals.

CCTNS is positioned as a shared information system for police and related justice delivery institutions. It supports computerization of key police processes and allows searching and sharing across national and state databases and across institutional stakeholders involved in investigation and prosecution.
