What happened (MHI’s reported progress on EV adoption and charging)
The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) reported scheme-wise progress for electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging infrastructure in India. The reported scope includes purchase incentives for EVs, grants for EV public charging stations (EV PCS), incentives for domestic manufacturing of EV components and batteries, and payment-security support for electric bus operators.

1) Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) Scheme Phase-II
FAME India Scheme Phase-II was implemented for five years from 01.04.2019 to 31.03.2024 with total budgetary support of ₹11,500 crore. The scheme included demand incentives and infrastructure support.
