What happened: PM E-DRIVE demand incentives in Madhya Pradesh for FY 2025–26

The Ministry of Heavy Industries reported deployment and subsidy numbers for electric vehicles in Madhya Pradesh under the PM E-DRIVE scheme for FY 2025–26. The ministry stated that 94,277 electric vehicles were deployed in Madhya Pradesh during FY 2025–26, and 88,209 electric vehicles were subsidized in Madhya Pradesh during the same financial year. The ministry provided breakup details for incentivized vehicles (e-2Ws and e-3Ws) in an annexure, including a total of 81,840 e-2Ws and 6,369 e-3Ws.

Coverage limits: electric buses under PM E-DRIVE were not allocated to Madhya Pradesh

The ministry stated that under the PM E-DRIVE scheme, no electric buses have been allocated to Madhya Pradesh. Along with the state numbers for incentivized two- and three-wheelers, this makes the bus component of PM E-DRIVE coverage explicit at the state level.

Background and earlier position: India’s EV push uses multiple central schemes

The ministry linked Madhya Pradesh implementation to multiple pan-India EV schemes used by the Government of India to promote clean transport in both two-tier and three-tier towns across states. These include the FAME India Scheme Phase-II (FAME-II), the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for advanced automotive technology and ACC battery storage, and later demand and ecosystem support under PM E-DRIVE and PM e-Bus Sewa-PSM.
